Cover slightly rubbed, otherwise good condition. Owner's signature. "Karol Sczaniecki." The first volume of a five-volume edition containing, among other things, a rare essay by Aleksander Chodźko, "Notes et assais sur les inscriptions Lyciennes" (pp. 505-548), not repeated in later editions. Particularly noteworthy is the author's handwritten dedicatory inscription on the back of the pre-title page "Pour Mademoiselle Emilie Sczaniecka".
E. Sczaniecka (1804-1896) - patriotic and social activist, known as the "Samaritan of the three uprisings", initiator of the construction of a monument to A. Mickiewicz in Poznan.
