On the frontispiece page, the author's handwritten dedication, dated 11 II 1883, to Józef Łakociński (1838-1905) - the manager of the printing house of "Czas" and the continuator of the publishing of J. Czech's Cracow calendar. First edition of Kraszewski's historical novel; the action takes place in the 14th century, the plot is set against the background of the Teutonic invasions of pagan Lithuania. Fifteen full-page engravings by Andriolli engraved by Edward Gorazdowski. Infrequent.
