"A fervent love of nature, the ability to feel it poetically and a great aesthetic sense, factors that guided the Duchess in arranging Powązki and Puławy, also influenced the writing of the work on gardens. Great importance in the creation of this book must be attributed to Father Delille, the author of the work on gardens, whom she, like Lavatera, met during her travels abroad, and to whom she sent a description of Pulawy, later included in his work. The Duchess's work, intended for both the poor and the wealthy, seeks to turn villages and neighborhoods into gardens and orchards that would make life and work in the countryside more pleasant. To this end, the author gives a number of practical tips on gardening" (PSB).
