"Satires" is one of the best and most popular works of Krzysztof Opaliński, one of the most important and influential politicians of the Republic during the reigns of Wladyslaw IV and John Casimir. It was first published in Leszno in 1650, and was later reprinted many times. "Some pieces of this edition actually date from 1691, only they have an added title with the date 1698. On the back of the title is a portrait of the author in full" (Estreicher).
Krzysztof Opaliński (1609-1655)), poet, Roman Catholic, from 1637 voivode of Poznań, marshal of the Crown Main Tribunal, starosta of Śrem, one of the leaders of the magnate opposition against Władysław IV and Jan Kazimierz. Author of "Satyrs" published anonymously. Frontispiece in brick color. Traces of dampstain and stains, last page of 'Regester' missing, rubbing of title page and early owner's inscription: "M.Pieńkowski", and "Ex libris M.D. Antoni ...dlinski ..." Rare.
