Commemorative book published in tribute to the fallen Polish aviators by the Aviator Monument Building Committee. The highest state authorities (headed by Marshal J. Pilsudski) were involved in the construction of the monument and the creation of the book. The result was a high-quality work, with huge illustrative material, on good paper and in beautiful graphic design by S. Ostoi-Chrostowski (including 8 woodcuts and 7 woodcut initials). It contains, among others: Outline of the history of Polish aviation; Balloon military in independent Poland during the war period 1918-1920; Civil aviation in the period 1918-1933; Biographies of fallen aviators (with photos); Monument to the Aviator in Warsaw. Luxurious publisher's binding in full burgundy leather, decoration and gilt on the front and spine - pilot's badge on the front, and aircraft silhouettes and laurel wreaths on the spine. Some of the pages slightly wavy, minimal scuffs and soiling of the leather, otherwise very good condition. A nice piece .
