glazed, painted and gilded porcelain, underpainted calico decoration, height approx. 27 cm, green underglaze mark "ROK C. Bavaria" - for products of Philip Rosenthal's factory from 1898 - 1906 in Selb, Bavaria, Germany.
Slender elongated spindle-shaped vase with a small cup-shaped spout neck. The entire surface is painted, with fields of varying colors separated by delicate gold ornamentation. On the front is a depiction of a woman shown in bust in 3/4 view, with a floral shawl draped over her shoulders. The face is young with an expressive southern beauty highlighted by red lips, dark hair combed to the sides and pinned around the head. A beautiful example of applied art, still in the spirit of Art Nouveau, from the early period of the factory.
