Third complete edition of the lectures delivered by Adam Mickiewicz at the Collège de France in Paris in 1840-1844. Feliks Wrotnowski (1805-1871), November insurgent, later director of the Polish Library in Paris, a participant in the lectures, made a special contribution to the publication of the lectures. On his own initiative, he set about writing down the content Mickiewicz transmitted, and then, with the professor's own participation, meticulously compiled it and supervised its preparation for printing. The third edition, which is a translation of the French edition, consists of four volumes, each of which covers one year. Luxury binding in two volumes made in the Radziszewski family workshop (not signed): brown half leather, spine divided into five fields, in one field gilded titulature, in the remaining fields blind embossed stylized ornament, upper edge of pages, canvas of covers and paper of covers marbled, all booklet covers preserved. Slight rubbing of leather at edges, otherwise good condition. A nice set.
