Jan Opaliński, Dzidzia, etching on paper, 30 x 40 cm
Jan Opaliński born in 1956, died in 2014. The artist studied at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Lodz at the Faculty of Painting and Graphic Arts - graphic design under Balicki, and painting under Narzynski. He was involved in painting, printmaking and graphic design. Jan Opaliński's graphics depict genre scenes framed both thematically and technically in a witty and even anecdotal manner. The artist achieves this by using a "quick line" as in a drawing and applies shading to some elements of the scene, which has the effect of emphasizing the intended characteristics of the characters depicted in the graphic.
