Jan Opalinski born in 1956, died in 2014. The artist studied at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Lodz at the Faculty of Painting and Graphic Arts - graphic design under Balicki, and painting under Narzynski. He was involved in painting, printmaking and graphic design. Jan Opaliński's graphics depict genre scenes framed both thematically and technically in a witty and even anecdotal manner. The artist achieves this by using a "quick line" as in drawing, as well as applying shading to some elements of the scene, which gives the effect of emphasizing the intended characteristics of the characters depicted in the graphics.
