Portrait carved in etching. Signed J[ohann] E[saias] Nilson Inv[enit] Sculps. et Excud. A[ugustae] V[indelicirum]. Before 1789. Board dimensions: 25.5 x 20.5 cm.
Good condition. Portrait in oval, in half pose, facing 3 to the left, in an architectural frame, on a pedestal. Shown wearing a wig, with a ribbon and the Star of the Order of the White Eagle on his chest (awarded 1733). At the bottom on the pedestal the coat of arms of the Wettins and of Poland and Lithuania surrounded by a ribbon with the Order of the White Eagle. In front of the pedestal a female allegorical figure, around ornamental and floral and animal motifs. On the cartouche in the finial the inscription: Tempora lata reducit. Under the compose inscription and signature: FR: XAVERIUS AVG: ALB: LVD:/ Reg. Princ: Polon: et Lith: Dux Salon:/ Electoralis Saxonia etc: Administrator./ nat: d: 25. Aug: 1730. 9277/39
