Copperplate print on a 9.7x9.3 cm arc. from the second half of the 19th century. Coat of arms of the Branicki family Korczak with motto on the sash "Pro fide et patria" (Polish: "For faith and homeland"). Under the sash signed "Agry Gr.". Very good condition.
The Branicki Library in Sucha was founded by Aleksander Branicki and his wife Anna, née Hoolynska, around 1860; in time (1922) the Sucha estate, together with the book collection and a collection of historical memorabilia, passed into the hands of the Tarnowskis; during WWII the library was partially dispersed and destroyed; its fragments are in the Jagiellonian Library and the National Library. At the turn of the 19th/20th century, the book collection was considered one of the most important private libraries in the country. In 1932 it numbered about 35,000 volumes. After World War II, the book collection was divided among several national scientific institutions.
