[BUJAK Franciszek]. Handwritten letter by Franciszek Bujak addressed to an unnamed scribe, dated. 5 III 1909, probably in Cracow.
Single-sided manuscript on ark. 17.5x11.2 cm. The sender informs that the Czech painter Joža Uprka will arrive in Krakow with his ethnographer friend Kretz. "I think," writes Bujak, "that it would be appropriate to take care of them here, receive them and show them around. He announces his visit to the library the following day. Single punch hole in the top margin, transverse fold mark, good condition.
F. Bujak (1875-1952) - historian, professor at the Jagiellonian University, Warsaw University and the Jan Kazimierz University in Lvov, founder of the Polish school of economic history, author of many pioneering scientific publications.
J. Uprka (1861-1940) - Czech painter and graphic artist, educated in Prague and Munich, one of the most prominent Czech artists of the turn of the century. The main subject of his works was the life of the villagers of his native Moravia.
