A portfolio of Border Guard documents from 1919 - 1920,
The Border Guard Society was established in February 1918. Its task was to link the lands of the former Grand Duchy of Lithuania with the Second Republic and to defend the lands in the eastern borderlands of Poland. It supported the federalist policy of Jozef Pilsudski. She was engaged in political, educational and agitational activities among the non-Polish population in the eastern lands under Polish administration.
The present portfolio contains 30 typescript and manuscript sheets. Each is a few to a dozen sheets of 22.5 x 35 cm. The documents mainly contain estimates of the Society's work in the context of the plebiscite in the former governorates: Vilnius, Grodno and Minsk, reports on field trips, minutes of Society meetings. In general, they are a testimony to the struggle of Poles for the annexation of the Borderlands to Poland.
