Lot description Show orginal version
Grade: NGC MS61
Certificate: NGC 6636574-001
Collection: The Grain Collection

The first year of work for the new die sinker, Roelof van Cuylenburgh, who gave the 17th–century Utrecht ducats their distinctive look and worked at the mint there until 1673.

Compared to issues from previous years, the image of both sides is very orderly and aesthetic. Clear and neat letters. At the end of the obverse legend, a small dot is visible under the city coat of arms. Such a composition is also often found on later ducats from the Utrecht mint. The picture of the knight has been redesigned. Also completely new ornaments and a single–thread outline around the legend are found on the reverse.

Mint condition. Lots of gloss and clear, sharp details. An attractive specimen.
