Nemtsevich from front and back - the first book publication by Karol Zbyszewski, which was originally written as a doctoral thesis, under the direction of Professor Marceli Handelsman. However, it was rejected by the scientific council of the Faculty of Humanities at Warsaw University. The unprotected work was published in early 1939 by the "Swarm" Publishing Society, with the author's dedication: "To the young historians unaccepted I dedicate this doctoral thesis". The book, which is a biography of Julian Ursyn Niemcewicz written in the form of a political-historical pamphlet, in colloquial, even blunt language, spread quickly and met with a wide response (more than 50 reviews appeared). After two months, a second edition appeared, enriched with an additional preface in response to numerous press articles.
