A collection of legends and lives of Scandinavian (mainly Swedish) saints by Joannes Vastovius (ca. 1576-1642), a convert to Catholicism, Swedish priest, Counter-Reformation writer, canon of Warmia, chaplain and librarian to Sigismund III Vasa. Extensive dedication to Sigismund III. The first edition was published in Cologne in 1623. The offered 2nd edition was prepared for printing and provided with commentary and footnotes by Erik Banzelius the younger (1675-1743), theologian, Archbishop of Uppsala, one of the most prominent representatives of the Swedish Enlightenment. Good condition. Unpaginated. traces of discoloration of the spine and cover.
