Tyniec a former village near Krakow, which was incorporated into Krakow on January 1, 1973. It is located in the western part of the city, on the right bank of the Vistula River in District VIII Debniki. Tyniec is best known for its Benedictine monastery, in existence since 1044, one of the richest and most important in Poland.
Tyniec is located about 12 kilometers southwest of Krakow's city center, on the right bank of the Vistula River, between the limestone Jurassic hills known as the Tyniec Hills.
