The book is based on materials hitherto unknown to researchers contained in a two-volume copybook from the archives of Michał Wielhorski, a deputy of the Bar Confederation in Paris. The subject of the study is the successive versions of the project for the reform of Poland's political system developed by Father Gabriel Bonnot de Mably. Under the influence of the leaders of the confederation, on whose order the document was drawn up, the author changed the project several times. In his book, Jerzy Michalski confronts the successive stages of editing the document with the opinions of the confederates and shows the difference between traditional Polish libertarian ideology and Mably's views.
