In the remarkable book "Heroes" Charles Kingsley introduces the young reader to the world of Greek mythology, the world of gods and men. He tells the story of heroes who were endowed with extraordinary divine abilities and who became famous thanks to their strength and cunning. Knowledge of the world flows from these stories.

Charles Kingsley (1819-1875) was an Anglican priest, writer, historian and professor at Kings College in London and Cambridge University. A friend and supporter of Darwin. Chaplain to Queen Victoria and personal tutor to Prince Edward VII. Toward the end of his life a canon of Chester Cathedral, then Westminster.

Published by Gebethner and Wolff, Warsaw 1950.

Format: 210 x 150 mm, 197 pages.

Hardcover, good condition, cover soiled, minor loss of title page visible in photo.
