It could only be purchased by residents for their own needs, as well as by bakers and other craftsmen processing grain (e.g. into malt) or charitable establishments. The ban applied within the city walls, as well as in the area outside them. Those who disobeyed risked being brought before the city court. St. n.b., dimensions 390x330 mm.

Gdansk was threatened by famine in 1699. Typically, Danzig merchants bought grain from the Polish nobility on the stump and then took it further away. Trade, normal in other times, was considered speculation threatening a pleb rebellion.
