A novel by Charles Dickens, published in episodes between 1838 and 1839.It was the third novel in the writer's oeuvre. It tells the story of a young teacher, the titular Nicholas, and his sister Kate. The novel contains the motif of a child exploited by adults, which is characteristic of Dickens' works. Its construction also features elements characteristic of melodrama and fairy tales.
