Paris [1537], Jean Petit, LXVIII pp.
A unique Parisian edition from Jean Petit's outhouse, theso-called Auctoritates Aristoelis. This was a collection of the most important, representative passages of Aristotle. This collection of Aristotle's sentences comes from a compilation bythe Franciscan scholar Johannes de Fonte, active in the late 13th and early 14th centuries. In the prologue, he presents the above collection as a good introduction to the study of philosophy, or as a good tool for the composition of sermons based on Aristotelianism. On the title page is a unique allegorical woodcut with an outhouse symbol. This edition is missing from the BNF. Rare!
