The work of a German scholar dedicated in print to "The Polish nation to rise from the past, to persevere in the present misfortune and to warn for the future", to Count Antoni Ostrowski and to the patriots of Poznan (who helped publish the work). It was translated by Piotr Laskowski (from Wielkopolska). The author drew information from numerous Poles residing in Germany during and after the fall of the November Uprising.
