Biography
Włodzimierz Terlikowski (1873 Poraj near Łódź - 1951 Paris) - Polish painter associated with École de Paris. He was born in the family of a railroad official. He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and the Paris School of Fine Arts under Jean-Paul Laurens. In 1900 he made his debut in Paris with a solo exhibition at the Bernheim-Jeune gallery. In 1911 he settled permanently in Paris, becoming an important figure in the life of the Polish art colony on the Seine. He presented his works in numerous solo exhibitions, primarily at the prestigious Parisian Galerie Bernheim-Jeune, as well as group exhibitions - in France, Italy, Belgium and Poland. Terlikowski's paintings are characterized by thick textures applied with spatula. He painted landscapes, portraits, still lifes and flowers.
