Edward Raczynski at this item writes as follows: "We have mentioned in the preceding issue about Witekind, the famous in the 8th century Prince of Angrywars, from whom Augustus II derived his family. This medal proves that Augustus II was related to the Jagiellonians, and indicates that the newly elected monarch was the great-grandson of Casimir IV, King of Poland, whose daughter Barbara married George the Bearded, Duke of Saxony in 1496. This relationship of Augustus II to the Jagiellonians (a) probably captured Poles more than his delicious and unproven descent from Witekind."
