Nuptial medal of Michał Korybut with Eleonora Maria. Their wedding took place in Czestochowa, February 26, 1670.
Edward Raczynski wrote at this item as follows: "In accordance with the covenant between the Viennese and Polish courts, King Michael took as his wife the sister of Emperor Leopold I, the Archduchess Eleonora, whose images we see here. The Archduchess reluctantly acquiesced to her brother's political intentions, if it is true, as was claimed at the time, that from her earliest youth, her heart was inclined towards Charles Duke of Lorraine.
The Queen's nuptials took place in Czestochowa on February 26, 1670. The coronation took place in Warsaw on October 19 of that year.
Contemporary historians blame Queen Eleonora for not being mindful of her duties to her husband and becoming attached to his opponents, who wanted to deprive him of the throne. The death of King Michael thwarted the reprehensible intentions of his wife and subjects.
A few years later Queen Eleonora married herself to Prince Charles of Lorraine, who has only just been mentioned."
