In 1932 Tadeusz Makowski, at the request of his friend, critic Louis Leon - Martin, created a series of drawings illustrating auctions held at the famous Hôtel Drouot in Paris. These drawings were used to illustrate Martin's reportage "Dans le temple de la vente à l`Eucan" published in "Petit Parisien". Makowski was very conscientious about this task, creating a huge number of sketches of auction events. For the artist himself, both the placement of his sketches on the framework of such an opinion-forming magazine and illustrating the text by a well-known critic was very prestigious. In the end, unfortunately, only a few of the artist's drawings were included in the text of the article. In the collection of the National Museum in Warsaw there are 49 drawings by the artist depicting auction scenes from the Hôtel Drouot.
