A unique, small plate painting. Mary with Child and St. Catherine are depicted in half portraits on a golden background. Both women make eye contact with the viewer while the child holds Kateřina's hand with a wedding ring on her index finger. Mary's cloak is decorated with golden shells; children's dresses are decorated with stars. Kateřina has a golden crown on her head with dark blond hair, a palm branch in her hand.
The style clearly shows the influence of Byzantine painting in Venice. The pronounced inclination of the heads of the depicted figures and the slightly greenish coloring of the skin tones that we find in Lorenzo Veneziano are already softened here, so that a successor from the beginning of the 15th century can be considered.
Oil tempera and gold ground on wood, slight bulge on reverse, reinforced with strips.
