Jan Karmański (Warsaw 1887–1958 Puławy)—Polish painter. He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw and was a student of Konrad Krzyżanowski and Ferdynand Ruszczyc. He lived in Paris from 1913 to 1914. Beginning in 1924, he settled permanently in Kazimierz Dolny, where he was a member of the Society of Friends of Kazimierz, founded by local artists, with whom he exhibited his works. In 1956, he joined the Kazimierz Group, founded by Zenon Kononowicz. He participated in numerous exhibitions both in Poland and abroad. His body of work consists mainly of landscapes of Kazimierz, painted with broad swaths of color and inspired by the work of Cézanne. He is buried in the cemetery in Kazimierz Dolny.
