After the war, she continued her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts. In her painting she used "trompe l'oeil", an optical illusion used in Baroque Dutch painting. It involves giving the impression that objects depicted on a two-dimensional surface are three-dimensional. Her frequent subjects were still lifes with books characterized by great precision in rendering details. She also created melancholic genre scenes characterized by cold colors and minimized backgrounds to emphasize the main scene. She also worked as an illustrator, exemplified by a series of drawings for Bruno Schulz's "Cinnamon Shops" and "Sanatorium Under the Sign of the Hourglass." Her husband was painter Adam Hofmann.
