One of those producers in Napa Valley whose cabernet sauvignon varietal has helped it achieve enormous fame. The first vintage was released in 1973, and the flagship wine Insignia made its debut in 1974. The producer developed the label over the following years, and today it is definitely one of the region's most important wines.
The basis of the blend is fruit sourced from crops in Stags Leap, Oak Knoll, Rutherford and Oakville, and fermented at the famous winery in St. Helena.
Insignia is cabernet sauvignon complemented by merlot, petit verdot and malbec varietals. In an overall very successful 2018 vintage for the region, Insignia is exceptionally powerful, intense and concentrated. Black currant, blackberry, coffee and even coconut in the bouquet precede the encounter with a dark, dense and muscular body. The wine's strength is not lacking even with an exceptionally long finish. 87% cabernet and 100% new barrel. With the potential to mature for another dozen years.
