California, Napa Valley
Comments
Eisele Vineyard is one of Napa Valley's historic crops. It is named after its first owners, Milt and Barbara Eisele. The terroir of the vineyard perfectly suits the cabernet sauvignon variety, which is why Eisele Vineyard is famous for the extraordinary quality of the fruit of this varietal.
One of the first wines in California to bear the name of a single vineyard was made using fruit from Eisele, and this was the 1971 vintage created by the famous Paul Draper of Ridge Vineyards.
In the following years, the vineyard was owned by the Araujo family, who introduced first organic and then biodynamic farming. Today the land is owned by the Artemis Group, owners of the famous Chateau Latour. The current owner has retained the traditional name Eisele, as it is unequivocally associated with top quality fruit.
Altagracia was introduced in 1999, and the 2013 vintage of this wine is simply beautiful. Rich and concentrated, it offers an extremely intense bouquet based on blackberries and blueberries, which is enhanced by notes of forest mulch and flowers. The intensity continues with a powerful and muscular body, underpinned by elegant tannins and energetic acidity. Drinks well today, but will be just as beautiful for another 10 years.
