Large marble head, probably of a Roman emperor with laurel wreath In very fine quality
The impressive head shows a rather young, bearded man with a gentle gaze and an implied smile on his slightly open mouth. The voluminous hair is parted in the centre and falls down to the sides in thick, wavy curls, framing the face. The man wears an artificial laurel wreath with stylised leaves on his head. His beard is cut short and his hair falls down in small curls. The carving is polished, the iris and pupil are moulded into the marble.
