The commemorative medal for all ranks of the detachment of Colonel M.G. Drozdovsky was established by order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Volunteer Army, Lieutenant General A.I. Denikin No. 191 of November 25, 1918. The award immortalized the 1200-mile transition of the Drozdovsky detachment (about 1,100 people) from Iasi on the Romanian Front on the Don (February 26 - April 25, 1918) to join the Volunteer Army of Infantry General L.G.
