Crucifixion Group, Probably Tyrol, Carved, Painted and Gilded Wood, 16/19 Century

Christ, wearing a crown of thorns, is represented as dead on the Cross. His head rests on his shoulder. The Virgin stands in front, hands clasped together in prayer. Saint John, with his head slightly tilted, holds a book in his right hand.
This group was probably placed in a house-altar. All three figures reflect the larger sculptures from the workshop of Michel Erhart in Ulm.
