In a mountainous landscape under a blue-gray sky, in the shadow of a tall sarcophagus, Pan plays the flute with an ivy wreath around his head. On the ground in front of him lie two more musical instruments. Right, semi-recumbent, bare upper body and red undergarment, is a young woman holding a tambourine. In the background is another woman carrying a large basket of fruit on her head. A tall sarcophagus plinth with a figural frieze, partially lit by sunlight, dominates the scene to the left; beneath which is a large vase with a gilded ear. Left, a narrow tree reaches to the sky. A painting with skillful lighting.
