elephant ivory bookmark (Elephas maximus Linnaeus, 1758 or Loxodonta africana Blumenbach, 1797) carved with an owl, books and an oil lamp on a ribbon background, the handle with a sterling silver decoration depicting a mythological animal between foliate scrolls. hallmarked “Sterling” and signed.
