Swiss painter of the 20th century. Representative of the New Objectivity. Attended evening classes at La Chaux-de-Fonds with Charles L'Eplattenier and Charles-Edouard Jeanneret. Created mainly portraits, self-portraits, nudes, still lifes and occasional landscapes. Depictions with a high degree of realism and a partly enigmatic and mysterious aura.
