Tomasz Górnicki (born in Warsaw 1986) - sculptor, creator of installations and site-specific objects. He graduated with honors from the Faculty of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 2010, in the studio of Janusz Antoni Pastwa. He is an artist of the younger generation, whose interests revolve around realism. Physicality is the main theme of his works - a means leading to the world of symbols, a trace towards archetypes. I am fascinated by natural forms and their order resulting from geometry, mechanics and physical tension. To the logical structure/cosmos I add feeling/chaos. A lasting sense of loss is the fundamental emotion that drives me... and beauty is the equivalent of loss - freezing moments in sculpture is a way to cheat time and postpone the inevitable. Stone, bronze and steel are vehicles for states that I want to preserve for myself and others. His actions in urban space provoke questions and never leave the viewer indifferent. He uses the language of symbols, mainly religious, philosophical and psychological. He works both on a monumental scale and in small forms. He experiments with combining different materials, such as bronze, stone, aluminum and fabric. He explores the properties of color and brings 2D graphics into the 3D world. He believes that sculpture can organize and even create space. He has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions at home and abroad (https://tomaszgornicki.com/about/).
