Moriz Melzer (1877–1966) – German painter and printmaker, a representative of Expressionism. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Weimar and worked in Berlin beginning in 1908. He was a co-founder of the Neue Sezession and the Novembergruppe. In his work, he combined expressive distortion with Cubist influences, employing intense colors and synthetic forms. His colorful monotypes occupy a special place in his body of work, alongside which he created oil paintings, prints, and sculptures.
