Biography
Graduate of the Department of Textile Design at the Lviv National Academy of Art, graduating in the studio of Prof. Viktoria Dubrovyk (2015). In 2013. Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź (student exchange lasting 1 semester), among others, in the studio of unique textiles of Prof. Włodzimierz Cygan and Dr. Izabela Wyrwa. Author of solo exhibitions: Flowering, Poznanska 24 gallery, Warsaw, Poland (2021); Road Home, Oranżeria gallery, Radzyn Podlaski, Poland (2018); They, ComMuna, Lviv, Ukraine (2015); Land, Bunkermuz Gallery, Ternopil, Ukraine 2014). She has participated in many group exhibitions, including: Open Art, Art Number 23, Salzburg, Austria (2022); Constellations - Beyond the Horizon, ZPAP Gallery, Torun, Poland 2019); My Zakopane, City Art Gallery, Zakopane, Poland (2019); Vincent in Rzeszow, Culture Incubator, Rzeszow, Poland (2018); Pink bulldozer, Museum of Literature, Odesa, Ukraine (2016); Textiles, Palace of Arts, Lviv, Ukraine (2015); Memory of textiles, Umelka Gallery, Bratislava, Slovakia and Diamant Gallery, Prague, Czech Republic (2015).
The artist was part of the team creating the first full-length animated film made using the painting technique "Loving Vincent". She creates in oil on canvas technique. The most characteristic feature of Olena's work is a very expressive, rough texture. Her compositions are "woven" from all those bumps, concaves and dents. For the origins of this method can be traced back to the tapestries the artist wove during her studies.
