Obverse: a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II wearing a crown, facing right, with the inscription QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND around the edge.
Reverse: a large numeral "1" denoting the denomination, surrounded by the inscriptions "ONE CENT" and "MAURITIUS," with the year "1975" below.
The coin is made of bronze, weighs 2.92 g, has a diameter of 20 mm, and has a smooth edge.
Mintage: 10,000,000 pieces.

The coin is housed in its original collector’s envelope from the “Coins of All Nations” series issued by The Franklin Mint.
The envelope bears a Mauritian postage stamp with a face value of 2 rupees, depicting the Champ de Mars horse racing track in Port Louis circa 1870, postmarked in Port Louis on March 5, 1982.
The set constitutes a collector’s item combining the coin, the original envelope, and a philatelic item.
