Sigismund I the Old, Grosz 1527, Kraków – interesting fact
A variant featuring the Odrowąż coat of arms between rosettes on the obverse.
An open crown with a three-segmented rim decorated with flowers (Romanesque type 5). The space within the rim is filled with arches.
An eagle with a thick torso and wings (Romańczyk type 3C, but with slight differences in the tail). The torso’s plumage is depicted as squares. The tail is broad.
An interesting fact—the coin was struck on a smaller blank with a diameter of about 21 mm—a rarity.
Condition: 2-
Slightly under-struck, but a very nicely preserved piece. Good luster and plenty of mint mirror finish. Unusual disc size—rare. A coin for specialized collections.
