Volusian was in his early twenties when Trebonianus Gallus, his father, became emperor. Shortly thereafter Volusian was made emperor as well. Before he could make much of a mark on history he as well as his Dad were killed by his own soldiers just prior to the battle against the forces of Aemilian. Volusian was emperor for less than a year.
