acrylic, canvas, 100 x 120 cm (framed 115 x 135 cm), signed p.d.: 'MZ' and described on the reverse: 'MARCIN | ZALEWSKI | "René" | 05.2022'.
Graduate of Antoni Kenar High School of Fine Arts in Zakopane and the Department of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in the studio of Prof. Jan Kucz (2004). Despite his studies in sculpture, his main area of artistic activity is painting. Zalewski's paintings are characterized by intense colors and dynamic compositions based on juxtapositions of geometric shapes, as well as images of animals and people (very often also their hybrids). They resemble collages in their form, based on unobvious juxtapositions of elements taken from pop culture and high art. The artist is inspired by contemporary artists such as Bruno Walpoth, Willy Verginer, and Henry Moore, as well as the old masters: Fra Angelico, Giotto di Bondone and Vermeer. He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, both in Poland and abroad, gaining recognition in the art community. His works are in private collections and museums.
