Wojciech Sadley (1932-2023) Painter, textile artist, printmaker.
Studied first at the Higher School of Music in Lublin and then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In 1954 he defended his diploma at the Department of Interior Design, and in 1959 at the Department of Painting. Since 1973, he headed the Department of Experimental Textile at the Academy of Fine Arts. In 1983 he received the title of professor, where he headed the studio for many years. In addition, Professor Sadley's lectures were held at the Faculty of Arts and Pedagogy at M. Copernicus University in Torun and the Department of Painting at the College of Applied Arts in Poznan. Wojciech Sadley was a co-founder of the success of the Polish school of textiles, whose realizations made artistic textiles an autonomous work of art with sculptural and spatial qualities. An important place in his oeuvre is occupied by the series "Całuny" created in the 1990s and the series of dyed leather "Treny". The artist also takes up religious motifs, as exemplified by the tapestries made for the Redemptorists in Paczków and the chasuble for St. Andrew Bobola Church in Warsaw.
