He has always drawn, but always dreamed of painting. For most of his life he didn't have the time for it, or perhaps rather lacked the faith that it was possible to do what you love?
In 2003 he moved to Silesia, where he was consumed by more responsibilities and work, unrelated to art. He didn't stop dreaming about what he wanted to do all the time. For several years he engaged in photography, which gave him a substitute for a sense of creating his own world. After a dozen years or so, his life came "around the bend" again. As a result, he moved further south, to a small, secluded village in the Beskid Maly. Here he found peace, time and faith that he should do what he had longed to do until now.
He paints mainly with acrylics, but doesn't shy away from oil paints and watercolors either. He invents his own techniques for creating paintings and keeps breaking new ground in transferring his own visions and dreams to the canvas. His works are unconventional and do not leave the viewer indifferent. The vast majority of works are in private collections in Poland and abroad. Importantly, for a relatively short period of time, he has managed to develop his own style, and although his paintings are diverse, they are nonetheless, recognizable and distinctive.
He cannot boast of awards in competitions, as he does not participate in them. His paintings are so young that he can't boast a list of exhibitions either, especially since, as a result of the pandemic that has prevailed for over a year, they are impossible to organize. The only solo exhibition of his works, which was organized for him by the Art Market in Andrychów, took place in June 2020 and was met with considerable interest from the public.
Michal Czejgis is self-taught. He doesn't copy others, he doesn't paint based on photos, he doesn't use the experience of others. This is probably where the strength and uniqueness of his works lies - so different and so homogeneous, evoking emotions and various interpretations in the viewer.
