Patriotic cross, most likely made in honor of the Five Fallen, gold, black enamel, height 2.5 cm, Poland ca. 1861 - 1863. Cross made on the model of wooden crosses of round crosses placed on the graves of the fallen. Black mourning enamel, fashionable at the time, was used. The five "notches" may symbolize the Five fallen in 1861 shot by the Russian army in Warsaw. At that time, before the outbreak of the January Uprising, the cult of the "Five Fallen" developed. Black jewelry with appropriate symbolism was produced.
