inkograph, paper, 80 x 125 cm
The print comes with a certificate of authenticity issued by Museum Masters International NYC The Lempicka Estate in New York, signed by the artist's granddaughter, Victoria de Lempicka.
The portrait depicts Ira Perrot, a close friend and lover of the artist, repeatedly posing for her paintings (including Saint-Moritz, Allegory of Music). Perrot was a modern, emancipated woman who loved sports. Lempicka's compositions depict her like a saint in ecstasy or a Raphaelite cherub - there is a certain perversity in this, given Ira's hedonistic way of life, taking handfuls of all its pleasures.
