sterling silver, stamped 13 (Jastrzembski in italics - in rectangle, 12 - in oval); dimensions in clear frame H 19 cm, W 12.5 cm.
Vilnius, early 19th century.
Silver cover for painting with cut-outs for faces, hands and feet with relief representations - centrally a figure of seated holy woman in halo, probably St. Brigid patroness of good death, in habit with cross on veil, holding open book on her knees, at top a sash with Dutch inscription, which is supported by two angels; at bottom left an orant woman praying on her knees, on right a man supported on a cane, above them suspended tools. At the bottom, an italic inscription in Dutch referring to the donor's wife with dates given, one (1795) referring to her reception of the Holy Sacraments and the other (1806) to the founding of the plaque. The inscription next to the representation of the Saint added in 1837 - "Year /1837m/March 27./Day/Pozar/w/Zytniewo". The plaque in a wooden frame behind glass.
The plaque was probably commissioned by one of the Dutch settled in Poland, known by Poles as Olenders or Olêders.
